The Estancia Library began to serve the community in 1906 with a large book donation by the A.H. Garnett family in the basement of the Methodist Church. The Estancia’s Women’s Club took on the running of the Library in a house that they purchased at 507 Highland Ave. The Club later sold the building and planned to build a new building on the town’s main street, but the money was lost in a bank failure, commonplace at that time. In the 1930’s the Estancia Business and Professional Women’s Club picked up the pieces, contributing the money they had accumulated toward a library to the town’s community building fund. The new community building was built in 1934, and the Library was set up in one of the rooms. In 1977, the town built a new municipal building, including a library facility. In 2005 a new building was built in Estancia after the town received a trust for one million dollars from Corinne Williams French and her brother Willis Williams, the children of Henry Clay and Jennie Gertrude Williams, who homesteaded south of Estancia between 1904 and 1940. The “Williams Memorial Library” honors Henry and Jennie Williams.
