The Town of Estancia is accepting applications for a Full-time Animal Control /Planning & Zoning Code Enforcement Officer at $16.00 an hour. This position will consist of Animal Control and Planning & Zoning Duties. Applicants must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license, a good driving record, high school diploma or GED, good clerical, computer, communications, and people skills. Must be able to pass a background clearance check. Must reside within 30 miles of town limits with a maximum of a 45 minute response time. This person will respond to animal complaints as well as P&Z Code Enforcement requests and complaints within the town. Must possess a basic understanding of basic animal behavior and be able to help set up the Animal Control facility prior to accepting any animals. Must be or become certified as a Flood Plain Manager as defined and certified by the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). If not certified when employed, the Officer will be required to obtain certification within two years of the date of employment. This position will remain open until filled. The Town of Estancia is seeking to hire a Deputy Clerk
Desired minimum qualifications – Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a degree in public administration, business management or closely related field, or a minimum of three years’ experience in government administration. Considerable knowledge of modern policies and practices of public administration, municipal finance, public works, and community development. Skill in assisting in the preparation and administration of municipal budgets and payroll. Ability to prepare and analyze comprehensive reports, ability to carry our assigned projects to their completion, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to speak Spanish is preferable. Must be willing to participate in Municipal Clerk’s Certification Program. Starting salary is $20.98/hr.
