Certified Police Officer

The Town of Estancia is accepting applications for the position of police officer. Applicants must be New Mexico certified or qualify for the certification-by-waiver process.  Desired minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, previous law enforcement experience or training; a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, and valid and current certification by the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy.  Must reside within 60 miles or 90 minutes response time from the municipality of Estancia.  Starting pay is $26.00 per hour. Maintenance Worker Level 1

.  Will work under general supervision, and perform a variety of maintenance, cleanup, and/or landscaping duties and duties relating to the Town infrastructure, parks, buildings and grounds, and the water and wastewater systems.  Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, skill in working with a variety of hand and power tools, landscape and construction equipment, and equipment manuals, and skill in maintaining cooperative working relationships with the public, department staff, and other Town departments and contractors.  Must possess and maintain an active NM Driver’s License, and be able to drive.  Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen after job offer. Candidate must reside within thirty (30) miles of town limits, and within a maximum of forty-five (45) minutes response time.  Pay is $18.00 an hour. EMT-Firefighter (Open Positions: 1)

Department: Public Safety - Ambulance

Job Status: Full-Time

Rate of Pay: $18.75 per hour

Details: Full-time 4-ten hour shifts      

Desired Minimum Qualifications-

 

·       Valid NM Driver’s License class E, A, or B required.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

• New Mexico EMT certification (at least Basic level) required.

• Meet requirements of EMS apparatus driver’s operator within one (1) year.

This position provides a range of services designed to protect the lives and property of the citizens of the Town of Estancia from adverse effects of fires, sudden medical emergencies or exposure to dangerous conditions created by either man or nature.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Respond to EMS calls for service in a timely manner.

• Gains access to and moves patient, as appropriate, when on scene, utilizing protective equipment and taking quickest route to patient in consideration of safety of patient, and EMS personnel; supervises patient safety during extrication procedures; sees that patient is prepared for transport in accordance with approved treatment protocols.

• Wears protective equipment when on scene, avoids contact with bodily fluids of patients when possible and reports incidents of significant exposure; clean or discards contaminated equipment, according to established policies and procedures.

• Connects apparatus hoses; controls and extinguishes fires; operates hose lines; makes forced entries; ventilates structures and performs or assists in rescue operations.

• Responsible for developing a productive working relationship with volunteer chiefs, officers and firefighters.

• Operate as a member of a team and independently, at incidents of uncertain duration.

 

• Learn a variety of technical skills, including but not limited to: proper care and use of SCBA, search and rescue operations, ground ladders, pump operations, hose lays, fire streams, hand and power tool operations, ropes and knots, forcible entry and vehicle extrication.

• Renders emergency medical treatment at current certified skill level. · Moves, carries and transports all victims and patients.

• Learn computer skills necessary to submit reports of fire and rescue calls.

• Learn how to properly file building and equipment maintenance reports.

• Obtain EVO certification and operate assigned vehicles in a safe manner with due regard for the public.

• Perform routine maintenance work on county property and equipment.

• Participate in drills and training classes as assigned.

• Learn to operate all department radio communication equipment.

• Gain knowledge of response area geography and streets to accepted department standards.

• Perform company inspections on public and privately owned buildings.

• Must satisfactorily complete and pass all exams, practical drills, activities and assessment.

• Keep immediate supervisor and volunteer chief officers fully and accurately informed on all issues.

• Conduct behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively on the Fire Department and the Town of Estancia.

• Drive apparatus to scene of emergencies.

• Maintain cleanliness and performs minor maintenance of Emergency Medical Services Facility.

• Perform other department activities as assigned.

Pool Lifeguard

The Town of Estancia is seeking qualified applications for the positions of LIFEGUARD for the Estancia Aquatic Facility. If selected, the lifeguard applicant must successfully complete a lifeguard certification, first-aid and CPR class provided by the Town of Estancia. These positions are seasonal and part-time. Minimum age requirement is 16 years old by May 1, 2024. Experience is preferred along with strong swimming ability. The Town of Estancia is seeking qualified applications for POOL MANAGER for the Estancia Aquatic Facility.  This position is seasonal and part-time.  Minimum age requirement is 20 years old with a minimum of 2 years managerial experience preferred.  Lifeguard certification is preferred.
